Maria Balboa joins AMA as an intermediate building services engineer, working predominantly in our electrical team. Welcome Maria!

Appointed by East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust to carry out computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling of mechanical ventilation in 6 bed bays at Conquest Hospital, to analyse and test effective ventilation strategies for improved infection control of patients. Part of the study involves real data capture to validate the CFD modelling.

We are working for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust to design M&E services for a new diagnostic hub. The project is part of a government initiative to provide diagnostic healthcare services in the community outside of the main hospital environment. The site has a limited power supply which is making this design challenging.

New ventilation plant works complete at St. Richards’s Hospital in Chichester. The new plant incorporates new HTM compliant air handling plant and serves the West Block.

Jonny Matson has achieved a distiction in his MSc Building Services Engineering at London Southbank University. Jonny’s dissertation is very topical during the Covid-19 pandemic and titled “Comparing ventilation strategies with CFD to improve air quality in hospital wards”. Congratulations Jonny!

The refurbished Cardiac Catheterisation Lab 2 at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton is complete. AMA worked with the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, Kier, local architect Crowther Associates and the scanner specialist Phillips to design the M&E engineering services.

Our Huntington House office fit-out project has recently been completed and handed over. AMA were appointed as the Landlord’s M&E Consultant for the Cat A fit-out. Huntington House is located in the centrre of Brighton and forms part of the prestigious Hanningtons Estate.

New 20 bed respiratory ward at Worthing Hospital has been handed over. We were employed by Kier Solent on this £2.3 million scheme, to provide Mechanical and Electrical consultancy services. The scheme includes two Positive Pressure Ventilation Lobby (PPVL) isolation suites. This project was challenging due to the very limited space, our design solution was a new ventialtion plant that fits on the existing flat roof areas.

We are pleased to be working for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, under their framework, on a very interesting project at Conquest Hospital. The project involves designing mechnanical and electrical engineering services for two new Ultra Clean Theatres, that are constructed in the existing Operating Theatres Department. The design involves HTM conpliant mechanical and electrical services, all designed to fit within existing plant areas. AMA used 3D laser scanning to survey the existing services, this helped with creating accurate existing drawings and strip out drawings.

Guildford Hospital are ‘over the moon’, with their newly refurbished and reconfigured Maternity Department. The photos below show the new operating theatre and anaesthetic room. AMA were appointed by Royal Sussex NHS Foundation Trust for full mechanical and electrical services duties, from inception to completion. Project value £ 2.3 million.
