LINAC fit-out completed

A flagship fit-out of a new LINAC (linear accelerator) unit at Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford.  This LINAC device is most commonly used for external beam radiation treatments for patients with cancer. It delivers high-energy x-rays or electrons to the region of the patient’s tumor.  The actual model installed as a part of this project is a revolutionary type and the first of its kind to be installed within the UK.

The works comprised of the complete M&E installations to serve the ‘Bunker’ and ‘Maze’ (in which the LINAC device is installed, and the Control Room and Technical Room where all the associated control equipment is installed to allow the staff to carry out the intricate procedures.

Royal Surrey County Hospital currently has 6 LINAC devices.  Each LINAC unit has to be designed with its’ own separate M&E system to enable independent shut downs for routine maintenance etc. without impacting on the other 5 devices.
