Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer

Reporting directly to the Managing Director; your role will be to develop, manage and lead mechanical services designs from inception to completion, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and domestic hot and cold water services. Responsibilities include:

  • Liaise with client and design team members
  • Develop project brief, and outline budget costings for projects
  • Manage and ensure compliance with design and QA procedures
  • Mark-up drawings to send to CAD department for issue
  • Undertake surveys, preparation of reports, drawings and specifications
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to queries raised by the project teams, and assist with the re-engineering of pre-designed contracts
  • Monitor installations on site to ensure that installation satisfies design intent, and brief the departmental technical services in the undertaking of their responsibilities
  • Mentor graduate engineers/ apprentices

Required qualifications and skills:

  • HNC/ HND in Building Services Engineering is a minimum
  • 10+ Years’ experience in the design of mechanical building services
  • Competent use of Hevacomp, IES, Autocad and Revit
  • Highly organised with a logical and disciplined approach to deadlines
  • Excellent written skills for specification/ report writing
  • Good communication, presentation and client facing skills
  • Customer focused, ability to maintain and build new working relationships with clients

Electrical Building Services Design Engineer

Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Electrical Services Engineer, your role will be to carry out electrical design, including lighting, LV supply, small power distribution, earthing, fire and voice alarm systems, telecommunication services, low current and extra low voltage services, automatic controls, BMS as well as other related electrical utility systems and to:

  • Liaise with client and design team members
  • Manage and ensure compliance with design and QA procedures
  • Mark-up drawings to send to CAD department for issue
  • Undertake surveys, preparation of reports, drawings and specifications
  • Provide technical advice/ assistance to queries raised by the project teams, and assist with the re-engineering of pre-designed contracts
  • Monitoring installlations on site to ensure that installation satisfies design intent, and/ or to brief the departmental technical services in the undertaking of their responsibilities

Required qualifications and skills:

  • HNC/ HND in Building Services Engineering as an absolute minimum
  • 5+ Years’ experience in the design of electrical building services
  • Competent use of Amtech, Dialux, Autocad and Revit
  • Highly organised with a logical and disciplined approach to deadlines
  • Excellent written skills for specification/ report writing
