Trip to Rampion Offshore Wind Farm
AMA take a field trip out to the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm. The wind farm is located off the Brighton coast in the English Channel on a 70 square kilometer site. The site has 116 turbines, an offshore substation, 400MW installed capacity and generates 1,400GWh of electricity per year.
We were lucky to have sunshine and calm seas. The turbines were elegant, quiet and larger than expected at close up; the diameter of the blades is 112m! We welcome the plans of Rampion 2 and expanding the wind farm.
