AMA take a field trip out to the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm. The wind farm is located off the Brighton coast in the English Channel on a 70 square kilometer site. The site has 116 turbines, an offshore substation, 400MW installed capacity and generates 1,400GWh of electricity per year.
We were lucky to have sunshine and calm seas. The turbines were elegant, quiet and larger than expected at close up; the diameter of the blades is 112m! We welcome the plans of Rampion 2 and expanding the wind farm.
Chailey Clinical Services decarbonised heating project is now complete. The works involved replacing existing gas fired boilers with new Air Souce Heat Pumps (ASHPs) to provide heating for the Chailey Clinical Services building.
The ASHPs are arranged in a duty/ stand-by configuration which provides resilience as required by the HTMs.
The works also involved an upgrade of the existing incoming power supply and reconfiguration of the existing site electrical infrastructure to provide sufficient power for the new ASHPs.
The Trust employed AMA to take over from another Consultant and we were retained for full MEP and Contract Administration duties.
AMA undertook a due diligence review of the existing design, redesign works, regular site inspections, cost control and witnessing the systems operation.
AMA have completed a thermal impact of solar shading assessment at Eastbourne District General Hospital. The study included real time temperature monitoring and temperature data recording, this data was used to verify a ‘digital twin’ IES thermal model for further simulations. It was dicovered that external shading can reduce potential cooling energy demand by approximatley 50%.

Work has begun on the new extension at St. Luke’s Cancer Centre, Guildford Hospital. AMA are retained by the Trust for full MEP duties.
AMA were employed byEast Sussex healthcare NHS Trust to design new compliant mechanical and electrical engineering services for new theatres at Conquest Hospital. This was a particularly challenging project, integrating the new M&E plant into existing plantrooms, all while keeping remaining theatres live and operational.
